Better than local offerings
I paid about RM900 delivered to my doorstep. Paid additional RM35 for SIRIM type approval. RM50 for installation. Now i dont have to put upt with the wiring mess and fuss of mounting my Garmin Nuvi.
If you use GPS a lot, i strongly suggest this upgrade. nice zoning for audio too. I can play movies for the kids via headrest lcd, listen to my favorites on iphone and when needed, the gps audio would kick in and interrupt the ipod to provide turn by turn navigation. Priceless!
Btw, local stores quoted me RM2250 just for the unit!! Lots of savings
But overall, the auto dim rear view mirror is a better upgrade!

i also have the problem connecting my iphone to the kenwood system. according to the kenwood dealer, i need to purchase a cable that cost around rm200 to connect my iphone to the system. and to use the bluetooth function, i need to purchase another device costing about rm500. anyone got a cheaper solution?

Hi all,
The mirror cost me USD200. If you need just the autodim, u can get one as low as USD69 i think. All from ebay. I will post the link later.
And yes, i bought the kenwood cable for iphone too. Yes u need that cable only if you want to play video, like all the podcast and h.261 movies u stored in the ipod from within the iphone. Else the regular cable that your use to charge the iphone is all u need i guess. I stand corrected. Again, the cable would cost you rm200-300 locally, and from ebay, just usd28
And for bluetooth, you need the bluetooth module to be conected to the current ddx 5041 head unit. And again, this bluetooth is by far cheaper on ebay. And once the item arrived in customs, you need sirim tyoe approval number, and it would cost you another rm70 for bluetooth.
Yes, ebay and type approvals can be cumbersome if u dont have the time, but i saved thousands by doing just a little bit extra, i think its all worth the time invested.
Have fun modding
I just need my amateur radio yaesu ft8900 to be connected and i am done.
